What if a map didn’t just show you where to go—but made you want to go there? What if it didn’t just mark locations, but sparked curiosity and connection?
Baltimore's Druid Hill is a neighborhood with deep roots and a wealth of places worth exploring—yet for many, it remains unfamiliar. This illustrated map series I designed seeks to change that. Created to promote a city health clinic, the maps encourage visitors to experience the neighborhood beyond their appointment—whether that means grabbing a coffee, strolling through the park, or seeing Druid Hill through the voices of those who call it home.
These maps feature custom illustrations of local buildings and landmarks, bringing the neighborhood’s character to life. I designed the social media-friendly "Winter Wellness" map to highlight things to do before or after a clinic visit, encouraging visitors to explore local businesses and green spaces during a wellness day. I created a corresponding print edition for a community block party, weaving in quotes young people gathered in a Community Asset Mapping project, showcasing the pride and perspectives of Druid Hill residents.
By blending wayfinding with storytelling, these maps invite people to see Druid Hill as a place worth exploring, remembering, and returning to again and again.
